Stain guide for clothes in Cheras.

Find the stain, follow the short tip, then open the full guide where we have one. Prices at the bottom are the shop's stain-removal rates.

Protein

Blood and sweat. Heat cooks these into the fibre.

Oil and grease

Cooking oil, ghee and body oil. Soap has to break the grease before a wash.

Tannin

Coffee and the same family of brown drinks. Milk in the cup changes the first step.

  • Coffee

Blot, then rinse from the back with cold water and rub in dish soap. Start cold when the drink has milk or creamer.

  • Tea

There is no separate tea guide. Tea is a tannin like black coffee, so the coffee steps are the ones to follow: blot, cold rinse from the back, then soap.

Dye and ink

Pen ink, lipstick and colour that has run. Rubbing makes a bigger mark.

Malaysian food

Curry, chilli and soy. Scrape what you can see before any water.

Mould

Common after a wet week or a closed wardrobe. Brush spores off outside.

  • Mould on clothes

Brush the loose spores off outside, then soak in vinegar or, on whites, oxygen bleach. Dry the piece completely.

  • Musty smell

Rewash as soon as you notice it, with vinegar or baking soda, and do not fold the clothes until they are fully dry.
